Disrupting the cycle of poverty is easier said than done. Fortunately, the fashion brand Krochet Kids intl. is making strides to empower those living in poverty.
Co-founders Kohl Crecelius, Stewart Ramsey, and Travis Hartanov manifested their highschool crocheting hobby into a sustainable business with a mission to provide job opportunities and education to women in need. In 2007, the founders traveled to Uganda to teach 10 women how to crochet. Today, Krochet Kids has e spread its footprint within Uganda and expanded into Peru – employing over 150 women and counting.
Krochet Kids goes the extra mile by providing its employees’ education in business, finance, and management. The overarching goal is to provide the necessary training that will then encourage their employees to build a successful future.
If Krochet Kids’ mission hasn’t already convinced you to add multiple items in your cart – let me keep going. During production, the woman who builds the garment signs the tag. This, of course, is sentimental in and of itself but also allows us to learn more about the artisan through the “Meet the Maker” website tab. There you can learn more about the artisan’s life and dreams for the future.
Krochet Kids allows consumers to feel empowered by helping women and taking a step to disrupt the poverty cycle.
